Use a Hummingbird Feeder with Perches
Hummingbird feeders have come a long way since the basic red plastic models. These days manys resemble little works of art crafted in beautiful hues of hand blown glass. They are still made in either traditional tube or basin models, some with or without perches.
A hummingbird feeder with perches allows the tiny bird to rest while eating, thus conserving calories. Both designs work well, but a feeder with multiple ports will draw more birds, allowing 3 or 4 hummers to eat at once. Male hummingbirds can be very territorial, and tend to fuss or fight over a single feeder sometimes. Since the nectar is fairly inexpensive, and you can easily make your own, it’s a good idea to have another hummingbird feeder in your yard, in hidden view of the first one.
